Absolutely. It's yes for me , and sometimes I try to save my allowance, especially if there is something I want to buy, because there are times that I don't want to ask for money from them.

Am in the boat with you. I use my pocket money to buy sweets and biscuits. I never thought of saving my money. Am such a born free child then! Every money earned! Whether by crook or legitimate end up buying biscuits and sweets.

Back then I was able to able to buy my first phones and most of the phones that follows with the allowance I got. I used to save for months back then.

Yes was lucky to be a boarder in my high school days and I was always given pocket money as I returned to school. So I used it mostly for snacks
