It has shown me just how easily we overlook small expenses — a few dollar for a snack, the delivery fee, an online impulse buy. They’re tiny and inconsequential by themselves, but when you start adding them up they are actually eating into our budget. I suspect it’s because, in the moment of making them, they don’t seem like “real spending” to us, so we brush them off.

What about you — do you also find yourself surprised when small purchases pile up? Why do you think we tend to underestimate them?

The funny thing about small expenses is that they might look small but when pilled up, they often take a lot. Hence people easily overlook them.

Exactly! It’s funny how spending on small things doesn’t feel real at the moment, but later it really adds up and hits your budget.
