Why is USD Used as the World Currency Benchmark?

When I discuss or talk about the value or price of an item, I will always convert it from local currency IDR to USD so that it is easy for other readers to understand. Even currencies from large countries such as RUB, JPY, GBP, etc. are often pressured by USD fluctuations. So there are many currencies in the world that are very dependent on USD. In your opinion, what is the reason USD is used as the world currency benchmark?

Yeah I always believe since the US held most of the world's gold supply and the gold-backed dollar was relatively stable, iUS dollar would be the official reserve currency
