For the simple fact that you can play them on your mobile phone, and technically everyone has a mobile phone these days, they are much cheaper than a PC or console and generally you can play almost any game on almost any mobile phone. You will have to adjust the graphics a little, but it is perfectly possible to play almost anything, which is why they are so popular.

Exactly and you can actually play multiple games. So far i have played gameboy, gameboy colored, gameboy advance, sega, Nintendo N64, Nintendo DS, Nintendo GameCube, Ps1, Ps2, PSP all from my smartphone. I never had these game consoles.
