Why should a website have a very good "About US" page?

I think the "About Us" page on a website is something rudimentary that every site should have. Some sites are quite casual about their "About US" page. Why do you think a very good "About Us" page is very necessary for a site? Do you place emphasis on it?

Well, usually the first impressions is the ones that count, so the first page where you usually one write his bio is the first thing that appears when someone enters his website. However, there's also a saying "you can't judge a book by its cover," so in my opinion, the description in the bio it's important but could also be a relative aspect.
