According to the report, China has carried out the most sweeping military purges: nine senior officers, including He Weidong, the vice‑chair of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and a Politburo member have been expelled for serious violations of Party discipline, and alleged financial crimes. This purge marks the first removal of a sitting CMC general since the Cultural Revolution.

Analysts say President Xi Jinping’s drive is as much about consolidating power as rooting out corruption, signalling potential instability within China’s military leadership and a tightening grip over the PLA’s loyalty and readiness.

Combating corruption and building infrastructure should be the top priorities for developing nations. Corruption is hard to control, however, if the head of the country is tough, corruption will be gradually eliminated.

China has dismissed nine senior military officials, including He Weidong, on charges of corruption and breach of party discipline. The move reflects President Xi Jinping's efforts to strengthen his control and credibility over the military. Analysts see it as a sign of internal change and turmoil.
