As much as I like Ukraine and want to support them, at some point Zelenskyy's going have to come to terms with the fact that (a) their dreams of joining NATO are deader than warm beer and (b) they ain't getting either the Donbas/Luhansk regions or the Crimea so, so why not take whatever deal is available.

I don't really understand the concept of a buffer zone. But every compromise that needs to be made to end the war is welcome.

As much as I like Ukraine and want to support them, at some point Zelenskyy's going have to come to terms with the fact that (a) their dreams of joining NATO are deader than warm beer and (b) they ain't getting either the Donbas/Luhansk regions or the Crimea so, so why not take whatever deal is available.

Ukraine want to be truly independent! They don't want a situation where their sovereignty will amount only to in words. Russia should give Ukraine chance to be.

Ukraine is a sovereign country but peace here for them will only come if they accept that some of their dreams - such as joining NATO - are non-starters. The best solution for them is to become a modern version of Cold War-era Austria - neutral but Western leaning.

Russia should give Ukraine chance to be.

And everyone thought Russia would steamroll over Ukraine in Feb. 2022; its' now what, 3 and half years and at best Russia only has the territory they originally seized in 2014.
