Earning $200 monthly. What is the proximate cost of house that I should rent?

For a person earning $200 a month and still single, what is the ideal amount the person should spend on rent today?

Go for a $600 per year accommodation as you are in Africa. I think at least you can use your three months rent for housing

I think that you should not pay more than $400 a year for accommodation. That amount can give you a very decent accommodation in Nigeria.

I agree with you. if you are a single person you can make do with a house that you pay about $30 monthly you would be comfortable in it

When I was in college I had to be able to manage the money given by my parents, so I had to choose a cheap, clean, safe and comfortable boarding house, so I had to choose a boarding house rent that was no more than 20% of the money I received each month. so I only rented a room not a house.

I also think that 20% of your income is the maximum anyone that is paying rent should pay for rent. Anything beyond that, you are working for the landlord.

The rent here in a subdivision costs a fortune at $ 700 a month. For cheaper rent, one can decide for a room rent only. if rent a flat, the price is also different. I never experience renting a house,

You may consider renting a room instead of a whole flat. I would not spend more than 25% of my income on rent.
