What do you do when customers ask you to recommend which brand of the products you sell they should buy?

Imagine you are selling two or more brands of the same products. And a customer comes to your shop without any particular choice on which one to buy. They ask you to recommend which among the brands that you are selling they should buy. Would you recommend a particular brand to them?
 
I will try to understand the customer's requirements and then tell him/her the strengths and weaknesses of each brand.
That's just what to do. Tell them what each brand is good with. And leave them to make their own choice. You won't want to be liable if they are not satisfied.
 
I would sincerely tell them what I feel about each brand. And I would make it clear to them that it is my opinion and experience.
Yes this is no bad idea if you want to help. you can especially if you know the brand that works better for you
