30 years is too long to sit in an office being told what to do

The thing is that it is good to do what you are compassionate about. If you want to stop working for another ho ahead and start your own business
Thats the spirit you get to experience liberation able to move around to different places than being in one place.

Yes that's the way to go. You just change your position to things you need to do if you are tired.

I agree with you. However, I personally wrote in another post that people (I'm speaking to non-Italians, obviously) need to start thinking that Italy is no longer the beautiful country as once was and those who live abroad mistakenly continue to think that we Italians are still living well. Not at all! Things have changed, especially in the last 10-20 years! I can personally confirm this as a fifty-year-old Italian citizen, born here and still living here.
Hmm.... Geopolitical situations and the economy of any country is ever changing. Sorry about your country going the downside way. But things keep changing and we can always hope for things to get better and improve for everyone.

For more than 30 years Italy has been part of the 27 states that comprise the European Union, well it has been confirmed that this has not benefited the Italian population, starting with the introduction of the single currency Euro "€".

Hmm...that's a long time to stay in the union and not get the benefits. So, have they separated and started with their own union? I hope that if they have, it is bringing some good to them. What about Euro?Few more countries in Europe were not welcoming to begin with, but now it seems that all is accepted and settled.

You see, perhaps the €uro as Europe's single currency has brought benefits only to the banks and big business, but believe me, with this currency, I don't see any lower-middle-class citizens benefiting from it. In fact, I assure you that the middle class in Italy is practically disappearing. What once was is now falling below the poverty line!

@Augusta
Should I start my own business now in Italy, while we're under European Union law? Absolutely not!!
Please watch this video turning on subtitles in your language to understand what's happening in Italy right now. At the end, you'll probably understand why.
Thank you.

It's also understandable when after 30 years of sitting in an office no substantial savings during retirement. There are circumstances beyond human control like being the bread winner in the family and cost of living is insanely high. It's only savings that matter, but the person's pension is intact and substantial.

It is to always look at your situation to know the direction to follow. You can either sell products or render services as a business

Yes, obviously this is the first wise thing to take into consideration, but in my case, given my current situation which is anything but pleasant, on top of the serious Italian crisis of recent years, even if I had the possibility, believe me, I wouldn't even know where to start.

That's unfortunate. This shows that disparity among rich and poor is increasing. That's not a good sign for any economy. And unfortunately, the middle class and lower income group suffer the burnt most.

That's exactly right, and unfortunately, I'm also saying that the situation is only getting worse. Then the newspapers and talk shows talk about how bad things are, but the serious problem is that they're doing absolutely nothing to improve things!
