The Police Special Fraud Unit in ikoyi-Lagos, Nigeria have arrested a 21-year-old female from Anambra State. Miss Atuonah Cynthia Chioma, for fraudulently obtaining $220,000USD by false pretence from a German citizen.
Chioma who is a 2019 graduate of Economics, Nnamdi Azikiwe University claimed to be a model and she is also a proprietress of a spa, lured the 50-year-old German man on Instagram by feigning romantic intentions to gain the victims’ trust. She promised to marry the victim and even invited him to Nigeria on different occasions
Chioma convinced the victim to relocate permanently to Nigeria so that they can get married. He was persuaded by the suspect Miss Atuonah to return to Germany to sell his house in Stuttgart and forward the proceeds of the sale, together with his pension and life savings to her domiciliary account to purchase a house in Nigeria. The German man did all these only to find out that miss Chioma just wanted all the money and wasn't ready to marry him.
The Nigeria police are investigating the case already and the suspect is under detention.
