A staff that is too efficient but very egoistic. How would you manage such in your business?

There are certain staff that are very excellent with their work, but full of pride. They always achieve results and they know they are good, but they would always display pride and arrogance.

How would you manage such a staff if you owned the business?
 
It is tough when others have failed to rise to the occasion. That staff would alway hold the company to ransom.
That's the reason that some companies don't keep staff that are extremely good in their jobs. They would always hold the company to ransom when they know the company is hugely dependent on them.
 
I think the main cause for the pride among the experienced staffs is the lack of promotion and low salaries that are being paid. When you promote and raise their salaries they ought to be very disciplined and accountable at the work place.
I don't understand how this relates. Even when such staff are paid well, they would still be arrogant to the organization. That would even make them more arrogant.
