Do you think Wikipedia is still relevant for information in this age of AI?

Wikipedia used to be the number one source of information for many people. But it seems a lot of people now rely on Generative AI for information.

Do you think that Generative AI would be the end of Wikipedia?

Hi, I think the emergence of generative artificial intelligence won't necessarily be the end of Wikipedia, but it could significantly change how we search for information. Wikipedia has the advantage of being a collaborative encyclopedia, with a vast amount of verifiable and constantly updated content, making it reliable for many people. However, generative AI offers quick and convenient answers, making it very attractive to those who want immediate responses. The problem is that AI can still generate inaccurate or biased information, and it doesn't always have the sources or references that Wikipedia provides. Therefore, I believe both can coexist if they complement each other: Wikipedia as a reliable and verifiable source, and AI as a tool for obtaining quick and concise answers. The important thing will be learning to use each one correctly and responsibly.

When I still want to look for complete profiles of people and institutions, it's Wikipedia that I mainly use.

People still make use of Wikipedia, but i think majority of the people today often fall to AI to search for information.

I still use Wikipedia to get accurate stats of businesses. I don't rely on AI for that kind of information.
