So my partner just told me she is broke. And that I should send her some money. But I am not seeing her cutting back expenses or adjusting her lifestyle. She still buys what she wants to buy without hesitation and still satisfies cravings.

How am I supposed to believe she is broke so I can be convinced to send her money?

In my opinion, when someone says they're in a financial crisis but isn't making any visible efforts to cut back on spending, it's normal to be suspicious. Honesty is key in these situations, and if your partner isn't showing any changes in their behavior, it might seem like they're not being entirely truthful. It's important to have an open and clear conversation, asking them directly about their expenses and what they really need. It's not just about sending money without understanding the real situation, because that could lead to misunderstandings or them using the money for things that aren't priorities. You should also consider whether you feel comfortable helping in this situation, or if you'd prefer to offer emotional support or advice instead of just money. Trust is built on honesty and transparency, and if you feel something isn't right, it's okay to set boundaries and find a solution that's healthy for both of you.

She must not become a miser because she is broke. She might be genuinely broke but just can't drop her lifestyle. It is not easy for me to drop my lifestyle either.

That particular lifestyle is why she is broke in the first place. So it might not be that she is lying, but she simply lacks the discipline to manage what comes her way.

If she is really broke, she cannot afford to buy things she wants all the time. Either she is lying or she is getting out of control.
That's what I am saying. But I have come to understand from this thread that the state of being broke means different things to different people.

I have realised that most people say that they are being broke to avoid other people demanding money from them. That's how the rich people survive without sharing their riches with family members and friends.
I agree totally with that. There are times that I tell my man that I am broke too. The reason is to avoid unnecessary billing.

The thing is that women always like to bill their men. That she says she is broke might not mean she doesn't have money to take care it herself and her needs.
Lol. That's right. We just believed our money is our money and our man money is still also our money. Either way we must get money
