For me l have been using the Nokia G20 smart phone for like four years by now. With that being said, l am very faded up with it and l have planned to upgrade it by early next year. So how long does a standard phone device should be used before an upgrade?

The lifespan of a phone depends largely on how much you use it and the updates it receives. On average, most smartphones tend to perform well for three to five years before starting to feel slow or lagging in software. Factors like battery and storage are the ones that suffer the most wear over time. If your Nokia G20 no longer meets your needs, it's a good time to consider upgrading.

A smartphone often last around two years or one and half year. It mostly depends on how you use it though. I have been using mine close to five years now.

Thinking about upgrading your phone after four years is a common occurrence and a great time to do so. On average, smartphones last for 2 to 3 years before most people start thinking about upgrading.

If you’ve been using your phone for four years, that shows you’ve taken good care of it! With the Nokia G20, you’re using a phone that was released in 2021, so it’s a good time to make a change.

Do you have an idea of what kind of phone you want to buy or are you researching what kind of phone to buy?

I have been using my smartphone for three years now its like my baby I love it ,to answer your question I think the smartphone usage should be 4 to 6 years the value decreases plus the functionality of a phone changes i don't say throw it away you can keep it & buy a new one.

With smartphones that receive OTA updates on OS, they are meant to last for as long as the manufacturer keeps supporting it with updates.
These days' phones are very advanced bro, especially those that get OS updates automatically. When a new update comes out, you just get OTA without the stress of installing it manually. This helps the phone last and have clean security at all times.

But the truth is that the phone will only last until the company decides to stop supporting it. When they say there are no more updates, your phone starts to become outdated. That's when people start to see lag and apps refusing to open properly.

The main thing is to know that the phone is an investment. If you choose it well and it gets meaningful updates, you can use it for several years without problems. Don't rush to change the phone every year if it still works fine.
