One candidate was highly qualified but kept dismissing the importance of company values in their answers. I almost ignored it because their skills were impressive. Weeks later, we struggled with alignment issues that could have been avoided. Skills matter, but personality and alignment often reveal themselves in small, easily overlooked ways.
