Work Ethics: Boss Asking You to Do Something Unethical

Has your boss ever told you to do something unethical? Did you do it? Did you report your boss to HR or management?

With all the jobs I have had so far, I haven't had any bosses try to ask me to do unethical things, so was curious on what others have experienced.

Only once when he asked me to scam people and asked me do I know how I obviously refused

My dean did an unethical act. I was a newly hired teacher in a private university teaching Physics and math, but she dared to request me to buy cigarettes and mail her letters for her covet. I was shocked because I was 20 at that time and felt excited to have started work but my chairman upon knowing it called an urgent meeting secretly for our dean's removal for unethical acts. It was revealed that it was not only me abused by that dean, but many and all newly hired teachers. The university president upon knowing it, advised her to resign.

In everything I do including work, I always seek to satisfy my conscience. I can't do something unethical because a boss asked me to.

So far so good, the boss I had in the past didn't try to make me do anything unethical, even if he had tried to, I won't do it.

No, I have not encountered such a situation. Never been asked by my boss to do something unethical. I will not never do anything unethical.

I can't do something unethcal to please any boss. I would rather resign without selling my conscience.

A staff in the school that I taught refused to participate in examinations malpractice to help the students in an external exams. The boss directed he helped the students with answers. He refused. And nothing was done to him.

I haven't been in such situations. My boss have not asked me to do something unethical.

I won't do something unethical. I won't fight the organization. But they just know that I won't do it. That's why they don't invite me for such deals.

I have never been in such awkward situation. I can not sell my conscience because I want to satisfy my boss. I better resign. This is one of the reasons i find it difficult to work for people.
